Welcome to Canon Digital Cameras

There's a wide variety of Canon digital cameras, ranging from their ever-popular and highly-regarded Powershot point-and-shoot models to their newly released EOS 30D digital SLR and top-of-the-line EOS-1Ds Mark II.

Canon were the first company to release an affordable consumer-level digital SLR (dSLR) camera - the Digital Rebel/EOS 300D.

Canon digital cameras receive consistently high ratings from consumers who are impressed by their solid construction and high-quality images.

For the budding serious amateur photographer, the Canon EOS 350D/Digital Rebel XT is a great SLR to start with. Compact and light, it will take a wide range of interchangeable lenses. Photos are stored on CompactFlash cards and at the highest resolution, almost 200 photos can be stored on a 1Gb card. This is the camera I use myself and you can see some of my photos on my Landscape Photography website.

When a friend wanted to replace her aging Olympus OM-1 SLR camera, she followed my recommendation on getting a Canon digital camera. She didn't want a bulky SLR but something compact that still took great photos. She finally settled on the Powershot A550 and has been thrilled with it ever since.

She carries it virtally everywhere and has taken some fantastic photos when unique opportunities have presented themselves. These compact cameras are ideal if hauling a bulky SLR around is not for you. I'd even recommend that people (like me) who love their SLRs, get a compact camera as a second digital camera.

Canon currently produce 3 different digital camera ranges: EOS digital SLR series, the PowerShot SD (Digital ELPH) Series and the PowerShot A series:
